Sandra Chabot Weber embodies wellness. She has that ability to make you feel comfortable, relaxed and welcomed in her new home. Sandra is a holistic nutritionist and the owner of Whole Life Balance – a wellness space that opened its doors late 2016 and has already gained popularity among Torontonians curious about an emerging trend in wellness: intravenous (IV) drip therapy; an infusion of vitamins, minerals and amino acids that allow nutrients to be delivered to your body at a faster rate.
The benefit of getting a direct shot of nutrients through dripIV is bypassing the digestive tract for faster absorption. It’s a large dose of nutrition that our modern diets lack.
Whole Life Balance is more than dripIV. In the spirit of taking care of all your needs, Whole Life Balance has a small yoga studio that hosts aerial yoga where you can hang upside down in its standout orange silks. Or take in their signature class, Pulse.Pump.Prana, a trifecta of pilates, HIIT and yoga.
After your drip, go for an exceptional and calming massage with Katie White, one of the RMTs. You could spend a good portion of your day at Whole Life Balance getting your body back on track.
But back to the iv drip therapy. It’s a wonderful mixture that relaxes you. A registered nurse walks you through the entire process after filling out a medical form.
Precarious with what I put in my body, I wasn’t sure about the health benefits of dripIV therapy. But I felt the effects immediately as my mind and body started to relax. The jumble of thoughts in my mind fell away. I was on a wonderful high, without the high. I felt a calm wash over me. That’s the goal of Whole Life Balance; to welcome you into a state of relaxation and diverting your attention away from the chaos of the city.
The drip can take anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour. The effects are felt more distinctly the day after. You’ll notice a clear head and a surge of energy. There’s a range of drips to choose from; Balancing, Social, Stamina, Lean, Purify. Prices range from $150 to $195 for the Allure, the “celebrity” package when you need to be red carpet ready.
Whole Life Balance originated in Santa Monica, California by Shane Griffin, a Torontonian who lived the party life. His sobriety began in Malibu and he enrolled in Nutrition school while still in rehab. He stayed in California to open Whole Life Balance. Shane’s philosophy in creating Whole Life Balance was to treat the whole person, not just the symptoms. The symptom-only approach is a Western philosophy with a medicated view. Whole Life Balance is an exploration of holistic healing.
Sandra and Shane met at the Institute of Holistic Nutrition. After Shane launched his one-stop shop in Santa Monica, Sandra fell in love with the concept and wanted to offer the same to her clients. A wellness playground for people to find their whole life balance.
Whole Life Balance provides Sandra a space to impact people’s lives through yoga, meditation or dripIV therapy and ease the stress and tension in everyone’s life.
Sandra hopes to grow and expand her Whole Life Balance business, and make Whole Life Balance a way of life for people.
Well TO Do:Why the combination of services that you have chosen – fascial stretch, yoga (including aerial silks) and IV therapy?
Sandra Cabot: Our services are based on three main anchor points: Fitness, Body Treatments, and Integrative Medicine – all in one space. Offering this variety of collaborative modalities allows us to honour the key philosophy of holistic health which is all about treating the individual while focusing on the root cause, not just the symptoms. True “whole life balance” is created when we take care of ALL aspects of self and this type of integrative care is the best approach.
WTD: What is next for you and for Whole Life Balance?
SC: It’s become very clear that the idea of “whole life balance” is such a universal concept that people really relate to. Our founder, Shane, always says that there’s a reason it’s called Whole Life Balance and not Whole Life Perfect. That being said, I think there’s a tremendous need within the wellness community to create a lifestyle around this type of balanced messaging; a way of life where you can have fun taking care of yourself and still enjoy life. I’d like to see Whole Life Balance grow and expand across Canada while helping more and more people truly find their version of whole life balance.
WTD: What excites you most about the Toronto wellness scene?
SC: How educated and empowered Torontonians are when it comes to their health and wellness! The amount of people who comment on how happy they are to see this kind of space come to life Toronto is really exciting to me as a Holistic Nutritionist. Whole Life Balance was born in Santa Monica, California and Toronto has not only embraced us, they are spreading “whole life balance” all over the city and beyond. I’m extremely grateful to everyone who has supported the growth of our space.
