We had the chance to dig deep into the art of vegetable fermentation with For the Love of Body – an incredible duo who offer expertise in yoga, nutrition, natural DIYs and fermentation. During the workshop, we learned how to ferment sauerkraut, carrots and green beans and walked away with a fantastic amount of knowledge on the benefits of fermenting for both your pocketbook and your gut. They are offering a workshop this Thursday, November 10!
Making the sauerkraut was my personal favourite since, after learning to chop the cabbage “properly” from a couple of chefs at my table (talk about incredible knife skills!), I got to “knead” the cabbage and create a puddle of water at the bottom of the bowl.
But the best part of the class was the absolute wealth of knowledge of our teachers, Andrew and Kathrin. They literally seem to have fermented every vegetable that you can think of and dealt with any “fermentation problem” that you can imagine. If you are at all interested in home vegetable fermentation, we cannot recommend For the Love of Body enough — you’ll get to take home three jars that will turn into delicious fermented treats after about a week. Plus For the Love of Body offers any necessary help post-workshop in order to get to you to eating the fruits of your labor.
