As writers and natural skincare junkies, we’re fortunate to have the chance to test a lot of new and luxe beauty products. But it’s one thing to cultivate a stacked sample drawer and another to find among the piles a product you love so much you’ll buy another bottle. So we’re launching a new column to show you just that. To the Last Drop will feature some of our most trusted beauty lovers with the products they’ve sampled and then scraped the bottom of the jar to finish. First up, our own Alyssa Ages.
As a self-proclaimed beauty hoarder (the first step is admitting you have a problem, right?), I’m constantly jumping from one product to the next in order to test each one before the end of its shelf life. Over time, I’ve found a few gems I’m so enamored with that I’ve forsaken all other samples. Here are the ones I’ll be rushing out to replace.
Weleda Skin Food
In October 2017, the Weleda Canada team came to town offering a chance to try some of their most beloved products, including Skin Food, a cult favourite for decades. The formula has been around since 1926 and is a mix of rosemary, chamomile, and pansy in a nourishing base of sunflower and sweet almond oils to renew and restore the skin. It’s thick without being greasy and feels more like a super-luxe deep hydrating spa treatment than a basic hand cream, which a at under $20USD is seriously remarkable.
The brand recently launched a full Skin Food line that includes a body butter, face cream, and lip butter, and, well, now we have our entire holiday wish list.
Goop Replenishing Night Cream
Love her or hate her, Gwyneth knows a killer product when she sees one, which is why we were so pumped to try her skincare line back in December 2017 when it launched at The Detox Market in Toronto. The star of the show was the Exfoliating Instant Facial but the real hit? The Replenishing Night Cream, which earned a Best of Beauty nod from Allure.
Formulated with sandalwood nut oil, linseed extract, and hyaluronic acid, this gem feels like an instant hydrator. But what really makes it a “buying again ASAP” product is the fact that in the morning, you can still feel the cream working its magic.
Odacite Rose + Neroli Mist
Over time (and visits from the Odacite team at The Detox Market), I have amassed a serious collection of their stunning products. And while I adore the Charcoal face wash, Green Tea Ceremony mask, and all of their gorgeous serums, this product has earned a permanent spot on my shelf.
The Rose + Neroli mist is super hydrating with the loveliest light scent thanks to the rose water (which boasts sebum-balancing properties), Aspen Bark for its astringent properties, and neroli to promote the skin’s well-being.
8 Faces Boundless Solid Oil
Obsessed would be serious understatement for how I feel about this all-purpose skincare product. First introduced to it when we profiled founder Beth Shuman for our first All In column, I’ve since scraped this jar down to the bottom. The star of this product is Amla Berry, a super-fruit rich in Vitamin C to help boost collagen and give skin a seriously glow. It’s incredible as a night cream in winter and I swear it helped reduce my post-partum stretch marks when nothing else would.
