I used to think that working out was only a solo activity. A time to clear my head and basically block out the rest of the world. Years later, my prospective has drastically changed. I find it so inspiring to attend fitness events and hear from other women within the health and fitness community. Through these events, it’s the perfect chance to meet new workout partners and stay motivated, especially with Smart Girls Sweat.
When I found out about the Smart Girls Sweat event at SCULLHOUSE Rowing, I was so excited to attend. Smart Girls Sweat host Toronto based “sweatworking” events for professional women. Every event starts with a high-energy workout (sweat), combined with healthy snacks and a talk from a keynote speaker and some mingling (networking).
We started out by getting our sweat on at SCULLHOUSE Rowing. If you haven’t been to the studio yet – it’s a workout you don’t want to miss. SCULLHOUSE is Canada’s first dedicated indoor rowing studio founded by former Canadian National team rower, Kristin Jeffery. We did an Express Row workout that included a combination of rowing sets and strength training off the machine. Even though the room was filled with many beginners, Kristin made sure the entire class rowed in sync so that you really feel the team spirit in the studio.
After class, we went around the corner to the beautiful Workhaus space for some delicious treats and the chance to hear from Kristen. The treats included BonBites all natural energy balls and juice and protein bars from Welo.
Listening to Kristen speak so candidly about her fitness journey and her decision to change paths to begin SCULLHOUSE was truly inspiring.
Being able to attend these type of events are so special. Not only are you getting in an excellent workout, it’s a way to connect with other women and make sure the fitness community in Toronto continues to grow. I can’t wait for the next event!
