I have four words for you: “Sway Gently. Don’t Shake.” Eme learned this the hard way on the way back from picking up our first sampling of Greenhouse Juice’s ‘Greenhouse Pro’ line of probiotic beverages. Because of the live cultures they contain, these beverages are naturally effervescent…so open with caution. But once opened, enjoy!
First up for me was Root Beet 2.0 (containing – get ready – filtered water, black tea, green tea, live cultures, sugar cane, sarsaparilla, sassafras, vanilla bean, wintergreen, yellow dock, dandelion root, burdock and wild cherry bark). This probiotic potion is designed to help with gut health and to act as a digestive aid. It is also skin purifying. Sign me up. Root Beer 2.0 is like a subtle, healthy version of actual root beer and was absolutely delightful to sip. Seriously can’t wait to try the other two members of Greenhouse Juice’s Greenhouse Pro family: Canada Super Dry and Le Kif (see Eme’s review) probiotics.
Oh, and btw, Greenhouse is now also offering CHOCOLATE! Which I obviously also had to try. Their chocolate is made from two ingredients only: direct trade, single origin Trinidadian cacao (75%), and organic cane sugar. It’s also locally made by Toronto chocolate maker Aaron Raphael. Can’t get much better than that. – Erin
I’m on my second bottle of Le Kif – a spirulina lime kefir water probiotic drink – because (i) I spilled some of the first one and (ii) drank the rest of it so quickly (it’s like a cold crisp club soda elevated to another level) I couldn’t think of anything to write about it. It’s so light and refreshing, and is making me feel like a saint before the inevitable weekend indulgences. Fizzy, with a gentle lime flavor, this little bottle purports to improve gut health, is a source of protein, and the mild tasting spirulina gives the drink antiviral properties. Highly recommended for a quick refreshment that feels like you are doing something good for your gut! – Eme
