Rose quartz in the bedroom? Check. Obsidian by the entrance to your home? Done. You’ve nailed the crystal basics – now it’s time to level up. Enter: the crystal grid.
If you’re like us, you might be super intimidated by the idea of creating a crystal grid. Maybe it’s that the practice gives us some serious “The Craft” vibes or that we have a legit fear of knocking the whole thing over and causing some kind of cosmic mayhem. Good thing our guy Joey Wargachuk from Happy Soul is here to ease our crystal-xiety (is that a word? It is now.) and talk us through the process of raising our vibration in a seriously powerful (and seriously easy) way.
First things first what exactly is a crystal grid?
Used as meditation practice, a crystal grid is a powerful tool for focusing an intention into manifestation.
Why are crystal grids so powerful / more powerful than just a single crystal?
Crystal grids are mega powerful because they follow a formula for optimizing the crystal energy and vibration in key ways. A focus/generator stone amplifies your intentions, while a number of harmonious crystals played in a sacred geometry or organic pattern create a powerful energy to help you achieve your desires.
Can I actually make a crystal grid myself? It sounds like it might be super hard.
Yes you can! It may sound a bit intimidating, but grids follow simple formulas. All you need is a center crystal (usually a clear quartz, citrine, amethyst, or rose quartz) and about six other crystals.
Think about creating a crystal grid as a crystal pairing or set but multiplied three, and placing them in a pattern with generator stone in the middle to send out your intention to the universe.
Do grids have to be a certain size?
Oh my goodness, no! The energetic properties of crystals can be achieved with speck sized crystal shards. It’s the intention that matters.
I know how intimidating it can be to see a stunning crystal grid on Instagram and then when you try to build it, it can cost over $100. So for beginners I say start small. Don’t go with grid mats larger then six inches or designs that take up huge spaces. Work with what you have and as your collection grows, add to your grid’s scope and size.
It’s easy to just keep a single crystal on a shelf or in your pocket but grids occupy a bit more space. Should we be keeping grids laid out for just short periods of time or find space that they can occupy for the long term?
Many of my students who come to my workshops at Happy Soul tell me they are spiritually in the closet or they don’t have much room for building or leaving grids out. Or they may be like me and have a frisky aggressive cat. I have display cases for my grids but for those who don’t, I always suggest using the creation of the grid as a meditation practice. Then you can take it apart once you feel ready.
How do I make sure I’m not putting crystals in a grid that shouldn’t go together?
Understanding a bit of crystal association is helpful but not necessary. Creating a crystal grid combines everything someone on their crystal work journey has learned: chakra association, crystal structures vibration, the importance of clearing and charging crystals, and setting a clear intention.
What’s the best way to set an intention for your grid?
I always suggest writing out your intention for a grid and then drawing out what you would like it to look and feel like. Then write your intention on a little piece of paper and place it under the generator crystal.
How to Select Your Crystals:
Set your intention first by writing it out on a piece of paper. Know what it is you want to manifest and what kind of vibration you want to achieve. Once you know what you’re doing, you can intuitively pick crystals that are harmonious to your intention.
Crystals at the molecular structure are in a high vibrational pattern, so arranging your crystals in sacred geometry or your own creative organic designs connects them in a way that forms a higher vibrational energy matrix and helps tune into your intention.
Center stones first! Your center stone should be a tower or a point. Use a seeker crystal – one that has a structure that amplifies intentions. Think: clear quartz, citrine, rose quartz, green aventurine, carnelian, or amethyst.
Use crystal points or tumbled stones in a grid to direct energy. Clear quartz, amethyst, or citrine are usually best as they are high vibrational. The direction of the point is where you’re directing the energy. Pointing them inward brings an intention to you. Aiming them outward sends the intention into a space or the universe.
Crystal Grids You Can Make IRL
Everyone wants to feel like they have more then enough: more love, more friends, more energy to do the things they want. Gather together a clear quartz point and write out the intention “More than Enough.”
Select 10 clear quartz points and place them around the center clear quartz, along with ten citrine points or tumbled stones. Feel the abundance energy of the citrine connect with the other stones and form a matrix to bring abundance towards you.
I like to do this grid organically (with no pre-made grid pattern). Just let the design flow out of you creatively and intuitively. I keep this grid on my desk while I work and deconstruct it after.
Relax and Rest
De-stressing and relaxing is the number one intention we want to bring into our lives. This grid is best to create in the bedroom as it will help bring in a sense of zen.
Use a simple amethyst point for the center and write the intention of “relax” on a piece of paper. I like to use a Flower of Life grid (you can find an image online and print it out on a piece of paper).
Use eight pieces of amethyst for their peaceful spiritual energy, eight pieces of lepidolite (the relaxation stone used to destress), and eight pieces of blue lace agate to give a soft vibration of tranquility and calm. Sweet dreams!
Physical vitality is so important and finding balance to be invigorated is something that we’ve noted as important to our customers at Happy Soul. For this one, we’ll do a freestyle organically made grid.
Start with a carnelian obelisk for more flow in your life and write the intention on a small piece of paper underneath “well being.”
Use 10 pieces of clear quartz, eight pieces of hilairite that releases tense energy, 10 pieces of red jasper that is the vitality stone that energizes the physical body and balances your root chakra. I highly recommend doing this grid in your home gym or space where you workout or working with it after a intense workout!
